The prescribed work

  1. Be truly contrite and moved by charity, intend to gain the indulgence, and fulfil the ordinary plenary conditions.
  2. Visit a parish church in the Diocese of Sandomierz. The published local implementation directs visits to the church currently hosting the image.
  3. Either participate devoutly in the visitation celebrations, or spend a suitable time in prayer or another Christian work of charity.
  4. For the prayer alternative, pray for God’s glory and peace and concord among peoples, and against the errors of the present age; conclude with the Our Father, Creed and an invocation to Mary, Queen of Peace and Mother of Mercy.

The work and its conditions

A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.

Conditions common to every indulgence

The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.
