The prescribed work

  1. Devoutly visit the church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Ferentino on the qualifying occasion.
  2. There either participate in a sacred celebration, or at least devoutly recite the Our Father and Creed.
  3. Fulfil the usual plenary conditions, including complete detachment from sin.

The work and its conditions

A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.

Conditions common to every indulgence

The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.

Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.

Time required

Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.

Time for the sacred celebration

Editorial estimate

About 3–5 minutes

Editorial estimate for a devout church visit with the Our Father and Creed. The decree imposes no fixed duration.

Timing sources
What the time estimate excludes
  • Ordinary travel to and from the venue, and waiting outside the prescribed work
  • Preparation and separately fulfilled sacramental conditions

Occasion and source notes

The decree names May 19–21; the diocese publishes the permissible church-visit window from noon May 18 through May 21, consistently with Enchiridion Norm 14. The date-only calendar conservatively displays the three complete days.

The complete contemporaneous Italian decree translation is republished by the local Pro Loco; the current diocese explicitly confirms continued application of the 2001 concession. The signed Latin original has not been inspected. The concession expressly remains valid in perpetuity.

Prayer texts and resources

Follow the prayer count and formula specified in the requirements. The two Creed readers are alternatives.

Prayer texts and grants have separate source histories. Consult the grant source for the prescribed work, occasion, and conditions.
