Badajoz jubilee: mercy, penance and devotional works

The prescribed work
- With a contrite heart, perform a work of mercy, penance or charity. The cathedral’s anniversary charitable project is expressly suggested without excluding other charitable works.
- The decree also includes praying the Rosary, participating in the Stations of the Cross with a spirit of conversion, joining a Holy Week procession with a desire for conversion and penance, or reciting customary prayers with that disposition. Each is an alternative work; no cathedral visit is required for this partial-indulgence route.
The work and its conditions
The general requirements include at least a general intention, the state of grace by the completion of the work, and a contrite heart. Complete the work as prescribed.
Conditions common to every indulgence
The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.
