The prescribed work

  1. Participate in the actual Shalom convention pilgrimage to Rome, whose official program runs 15–21 November 2026 and also includes Assisi.
  2. Dedicate time to prayer and meditation; the announcement gives no numeric minimum.
  3. Participate in the Eucharist and receive Holy Communion during the pilgrimage, as the institutional directions specify.
  4. Make sacramental confession, reject attachment to every sin including venial sin, and pray for the Pope’s intentions. The announcement gives the Creed, Our Father and Hail Mary for this prayer.

The work and its conditions

A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.

Conditions common to every indulgence

The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.

Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.

Time required

Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.

Complete the prescribed event

Actual convention pilgrimage and prescribed participation; duration varies

No numeric prayer duration is prescribed. The official convention runs 15–21 November 2026, but the published directions do not establish that every participant must complete a continuous seven-day course. Follow the actual qualifying pilgrimage program; a brief prayer alone does not replace the pilgrimage and Eucharistic participation.

What the time estimate excludes
  • Ordinary travel and waiting; a pilgrimage itself remains part of the work where required.
  • Separate fulfillment of the usual plenary conditions, except prayers or Mass expressly included in the branch.

Occasion and source notes

The current community announcement identifies a signed Apostolic Penitentiary decree and gives these pilgrimage directions; the signed decree itself was not recovered. Dates are confined to the official convention program. No remote, homebound, broader anniversary-year or additional shrine-specific route is inferred. The 2026 convention prepares for the community’s 45th anniversary in 2027.

Prayer texts and resources

Follow the prayer count and formula specified in the requirements. The two Creed readers are alternatives.

Source and exact reference

Prayer texts and grants have separate source histories. Consult the grant source for the prescribed work, occasion, and conditions.
