The prescribed work
- Make a pilgrimage to Saint Joseph’s Seminary church; there, participate in jubilee rites or spend suitable time in prayer, meditation or Christian devotion.
- For the prayer alternative, intercede for peace, fidelity to Christian vocation, priestly and religious vocations, protection of the family, and against current errors; conclude with the Our Father, Creed and invocations to Mary, Queen of Peace and Mother of Mercy. Fulfil the usual conditions.
- The bishop’s local pastoral directions also ask prayer for the propagation of the Faith and for the Pope’s intentions, and describe the church visit as concluding with the Our Father, Creed and a Marian invocation (for example, the Hail Mary). These directions accompany the rescript’s rites-or-prayer alternatives above.
- Those prevented by old age or serious illness may unite spiritually with the celebrations and offer their prayers and suffering, rejecting sin and intending the usual conditions as soon as possible.
- The bishop’s pastoral letter announces 23 January 2027 as the end; the petition reproduced with the rescript refers to calendar 2026. Confirm local arrangements near the end of the jubilee.
The work and its conditions

Conditions common to every indulgence
The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.
