The prescribed work

  1. Visit the chapel of the Discalced Carmelite monastery at Cerro de los Ángeles during the jubilee year. The shrine’s February newsletter explicitly announces a plenary indulgence for this visit every day.
  2. Recite the Our Father and the Creed during the devout visit, following the general church-oratory visit rule in Norm 19 unless the particular concession provides otherwise.
  3. Fulfil the usual plenary conditions, including sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion, prayer for the Pope’s intentions and complete detachment from sin. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day, apart from the point-of-death exception.

The work and its conditions

A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.

Conditions common to every indulgence

The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.

Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.

Time required

Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.

Duration of the devout chapel visit and its prayers

The episcopal vicar’s published directions prescribe a chapel visit with the ordinary requirements but give no numerical minimum. Occasion and source notes

The daily chapel-visit route is expressly published in the shrine’s February 2026 newsletter by the episcopal vicar; the original apostolic decree has not been retrieved. The Our Father and Creed are identified here as the general rule in Norm 19, not as a quotation of that newsletter. No special impeded-person alternative is established by these sources.

Prayer texts and resources

Follow the prayer count and formula specified in the requirements. The two Creed readers are alternatives.
