Occasion and source notes

The first and last dates are partial days: the concession begins at first Vespers of the Assumption and ends at sunset on Our Lady of Sorrows. The church’s proper liturgical observance governs any transfer.

The original perpetual decree defines the season by liturgical boundaries and grants a partial indulgence for each devout visit, individually or in a group, with at least a contrite heart. It imposes no fixed prayer formula or numerical duration. The plenary sacramental conditions in the preceding paragraph are not imposed on this distinct partial concession.
