The prescribed work

  1. Be validly enrolled in the canonically established Militia of the Immaculata, with the name entered in a lawful local or national center’s register after the required preparation and Marian consecration.
  2. Membership context: the approved statutes call for a daily offering to the Immaculata and the MI invocation, and wearing the Miraculous Medal. These describe the association’s commitments; they do not establish additional indulgenced days.
  3. Renew the Marian consecration and fulfil the ordinary plenary conditions.
  4. The current national directions also attest the Immaculate Conception (USA and Poland), Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal (Great Britain/Ireland and Poland), and the annual anniversary of personal enrollment (Great Britain/Ireland). The source attribution is an evidence distinction, not a claim of a legal national restriction.

The work and its conditions

A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.

Conditions common to every indulgence

The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.

Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.

Time required

Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.

Editorial estimate

About 1–5 minutes for a simple private renewal (editorial estimate)

No fixed duration or universally mandatory timed formula is established here. The 1–5 minute range is an editorial estimate for a simple renewal; use the actual valid enrollment procedure for admission.

Timing sources
What the time estimate excludes
  • Ordinary travel to and from the venue, and waiting outside the prescribed work
  • Separate fulfillment of the usual plenary conditions, except prayers or Mass expressly included in the branch.
  • Daily offering, Marian prayer, and the Miraculous Medal as continuing membership context.

Occasion and source notes

Dates show customary Roman or proper religious-family celebrations. Follow lawful liturgical transfers and the grant’s own local calendar. Membership, place, frequency and other conditions remain necessary. Annunciation, St Joseph and Immaculate Conception use standard Roman transfer rules where listed. The applicable local or proper calendar, lawful external solemnity and any specific indult govern the actual observance.

This listing follows current competent institutional directions. The complete 1967 rescript has not been recovered, so reconciliation of the national summaries and any precise limitations remain documentary questions. No national legal restriction or new grant is inferred from those differences.

The current USA and Great Britain/Ireland centers both attribute these membership indulgences to the Apostolic Penitentiary decree of 24 October 1967 and require renewal of Marian consecration or MI commitment with the usual plenary conditions. Their lists are not identical, but omission from one list is not a denial of an occasion expressly taught by another competent national center. The UK page explicitly distinguishes the annual enrollment anniversary from actual enrollment.
