The prescribed work

  1. Be a sodalist of the Marianische Männerkongregation Altötting, with actual ecclesiastical reception into its spiritual community.
  2. On admission, complete the ecclesiastical reception; alternatively, participate in the actual Hauptfest or Konvent of the congregation.
  3. Fulfill the usual plenary conditions, including complete detachment from sin.

The work and its conditions

A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.

Conditions common to every indulgence

The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.

Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.

Time required

Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.

Participation in a scheduled congregation assembly (Konvent)

Complete the prescribed event

Actual participation; duration varies

The approved statutes name actual participation in these gatherings. No minute minimum is prescribed; use the congregation’s timetable rather than a short-prayer estimate. This repeatable assembly route still requires an actual congregation assembly; a private visit is not an alternative. The retrieved statutes do not impose a separate every-minute attendance threshold.

What the time estimate excludes
  • Ordinary travel and waiting; a pilgrimage itself remains part of the work where required.
  • Separate fulfillment of the usual plenary conditions, except prayers or Mass expressly included in the branch.

Occasion and source notes

The fourth Sunday of Lent is three weeks before Easter. Actual participation in the qualifying event is required; a feast-date prayer alone is not the listed work.

The current congregation statutes explicitly confirm the indulgence and their post-reform episcopal approval. The underlying Holy See rescript itself was not recovered.
