Apostolic Penitentiary, 19 April 1994, as reported in the Polish national association’s 2023 formation manual
Apostolate of Good Death: enrollment and member feasts
The Polish association’s national formation guide identifies six plenary occasions for enrolled members under the usual conditions.
Time required The qualifying membership occasion; no fixed number of minutes is stated
- When
- The actual enrollment day; St Joseph (19 March); Visitation (31 May); Our Lady of Sorrows (15 September); the Holy Archangels (29 September); St Thérèse of the Child Jesus (1 October). Follow the applicable lawful liturgical calendar.
- Where
- The national guide does not prescribe a particular place for these membership occasions.
- Who
- Members of the Polish Apostolate of Good Death / Association of Our Lady, Patroness of a Happy Death.
- Application
- Self or the departed
The prescribed work
- Be actually enrolled in the Association of Our Lady, Patroness of a Happy Death, through its Polish national office; the guide describes voluntary consent and entry in the association register.
- Observe the actual enrollment day or one of the five annual member feasts listed below.
- Fulfill the usual plenary conditions: sacramental confession, Holy Communion, prayer for the Pope’s intentions, and complete detachment from all sin.
The work and its conditions
A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.
Conditions common to every indulgence
The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.
Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.
Time required
Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.
Enrollment or an eligible member feast
Duration varies
No fixed timed minimum is specified in the national guide
Enrollment must actually take place, or the enrolled member must observe an eligible member feast. The usual plenary conditions still apply. The guide’s optional membership grades do not supply a universal minimum time for this indulgence.
What the time estimate excludes
- Separately fulfilled sacramental conditions and travel
Occasion and source notes
These are membership occasions. The preceding-noon rule for a fixed-day church or oratory visit is not applied to them merely because they occur on a feast.
Verified through the Polish national association’s current formation materials. This entry does not establish an independent privilege for promoters who are not members, other national branches, or a separate Seven Sorrows rosary grant.
The current national formation guide gives these occasions under the usual conditions; it does not specify an additional act in that list. Its source note identifies the 1994 Penitentiary rescript, but does not reproduce the full rescript. The optional second- and third-grade devotional commitments must not be presented as universal indulgence requirements. Enrollment is lifelong and does not require an annual renewal.
