The prescribed work

- Devoutly participate in the funeral Mass for a deceased Knight or Dame on the actual day of that member’s death or burial.
- Make or renew, at least privately, the promise faithfully to observe the Order’s statutes.

- Apply this indulgence only to the departed.
The work and its conditions
A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.
Conditions common to every indulgence
The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.

Funeral Mass on the fellow member’s death or burial day, with statutory renewal
Complete the prescribed event
Actual participation; duration varies
The prescribed work is devout participation in the qualifying funeral Mass and the statutory renewal; estimating only the promise would omit the Mass. Plan around the actual celebration. The source supplies no numeric minimum or separate every-minute attendance rule. The indulgence is for the departed only.

- Separate fulfillment of the usual plenary conditions, except prayers or Mass expressly included in the branch.
- Stated start
- 23 May 2023

- 10 May 2030. This is not a legal expiry date.
Occasion and source notes
The signed 23 May 2023 Latin rescript renews the 10 May 2016 concession for another seven years. A conservative review checkpoint is set for 10 May 2030, without claiming a precise inclusive expiry date. The current institutional publication supplies the full member-work directions; its prose incorrectly calls the older decree 20 May, while the signed renewal identifies 10 May. The death provision refers to universal Manual concession 12 and is not treated as a separate exemption.
