The Order’s ritual grants a plenary indulgence on five specified anniversaries of a sister’s first profession.
Time required No separate timed exercise is prescribed for the qualifying anniversary.
- When
- The 25th, 50th, 60th, 70th and 75th anniversaries of first profession.
- Where
- The applicable Augustinian monastery or congregation and the sister’s anniversary observance.
- Who

The prescribed work
- Be a religious sister or nun to whom the Order of Saint Augustine’s ritual applies, on the specified anniversary of first profession.
- Fulfill the usual plenary conditions: confession, Communion, prayer for the Pope’s intentions, and complete detachment from sin.
The work and its conditions
A plenary indulgence also requires complete detachment from every sin, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions, subject to the grant’s stated exceptions. The ordinary limit is one plenary indulgence per day.
Conditions common to every indulgence
The person gaining an indulgence must be baptized, not excommunicated, and in the state of grace at least when the prescribed works are completed. There must be at least a general intention to gain indulgences, and the prescribed work must be performed at the time and in the manner required by the grant.
Read the full conditions and norms. The cited grant and its specific provisions govern.
Time required
Read each branch with its own conditions. An editorial estimate is not a prescribed minimum.
Qualifying first-profession anniversary
Duration varies
No fixed duration is prescribed
The ritual grants the indulgence on the listed anniversaries under the usual conditions. It supplies no fixed duration or separately mandatory jubilee ceremony in this provision.
What the time estimate excludes
- Ordinary travel to and from the venue, and waiting outside the prescribed work
- Separate fulfillment of the usual plenary conditions, except prayers or Mass expressly included in the branch.
Occasion and source notes
The 70th anniversary is expressly printed in §555. The surrounding chapter concerns sisters; the grant is kept within that documented scope.
