Prescribed work
Duration varies
Time of spiritual participation and offering; no fixed minimum
No fixed number of minutes is prescribed. The serious impediment, spiritual union and offering of prayers and sufferings govern this alternative; no visit duration is imported.
What the time estimate excludes
- Ordinary travel to and from the venue, and waiting outside the prescribed work
- Preparation and separately fulfilled sacramental conditions, except where the prescribed work itself includes Communion or a liturgical celebration
Occasion and source notes
These are liturgical observances; the shrine calendar controls any transferred feast.
